Alan Oliver been painting professionally for over twenty five years. He has held a one-man show every year and has completed many commissions, often of houses or particular places. Alan has exhibited with many of the London Societies including the Royal Institute of Watercolour Painters, The Royal Watercolour Society, The Pastel Society, The Royal Britsh Artists, The Royal Oil Institute and at the Royal Academy. He is currently President of the Leicestershire Pastel Society.
Alan Oliver has had six books published,  'A Sketchbook of English Landscape' 'A Sketchbook of Rutland' 'Watercolour- Planning and Painting' 'Alan Oliver's Sketchbook' 'Rutland - Landscapes and Legends' 'Stamford, Bourne and the Deepings'

"The main reason I paint is to record and understand something of the beauty I see around me. When I was small boy, I discovered drawing was a wonderful way of finding out about things, so I have continued to do that all my life. It is my way of trying to understand this complex and beautiful world we inhabit. I also greatly enjoy solving the problems involved in the painting process".
